Bringing Flourishing Together
Updated: Feb 9
Hey Edgemont Family!
How is your year starting off? I pray it is going well for you. As we were putting together this year’s services, we were very excited to begin the year talking about flourishing. We thought this would be a great way to start the year. It reminds us not only do we all hope to flourish but that we as Christians are set up well to be able to flourish. We have been introduced to Martin Seligmann’s acronym PERMA to keep up with the key pieces of flourishing: Positive emotions, Engagement, Positive Relationships, Meaning (accomplished through Gratitude), and what we will discuss next week, Achievement. I believe our relationship with Jesus aids us in our ability to have each of the pieces in our life. As we discussed today, practicing regular gratitude will help us build positive relationships. We will learn about how our engagement with Jesus helps us to achieve more than we would on our own. Each of these elements provides a necessary part of a well-lived life, each drawing us closer to a life that can flourish in both good and hard times. I hope that our survey of each of these will raise our awareness of the tools we have at our disposal, things that are already a part of our daily walk with God, that also helps us to flourish as people. If you have missed any of these series, I encourage you to go back and watch the sermons on our YouTube page, which you can find at https://www.youtube.com/@EdgemontUMC or see the links on our Edgemont Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Edgemont. I hope you will continue to join us in person and online as we seek to flourish as a church together.
